Max Liedtke, 58, and his wife Katherine, 62, died when their 2001 Ford van collided with a semi on US Highway 83 south of Thedford Nebraska. Ice on the road and no seat belts were factors. Jody Lee McGarvey of Leeds NC drove the semitrailer. he was uninjured. The Liedtkes had married in 2000 and were returning from a Nebraska job.

She will sign in Hays on Thursday and Friday and Sunday, maintain a December 18 engagement in Lawrence, and has canceled or postponed appearances in Liberal, Topeka, Wichita, Salina, and Manhattan. Connie Morris of St. Francis accuses Garden City Mayor Tim Cruz of illegal immigration in an email to a Nevada anti immigration group. Cruz responds that the claim is false and notes he was born in Garden City in 1959 to American-born parents.
