Endeavour crew deploy second solar wing on ISS

NASA officials celebrated after successfully unfurling the second giant solar wing for the International Space Station. Astronauts Joe Tanner and Carlos Noriega prepared for a Tuesday spacewalk to connect electrical wiring and finalize panel installations, with Destiny lab module arrival planned for January. The first wing had earlier shown slack and required a start and stop unfurling procedure to prevent repeat issues.

Stamp price to rise in January for letters

The Postal Service Board set January 7 as the date for a one cent price increase to 34 cents for first class letters, while the Postal Rate Commission recommended smaller increases in other areas. Board chair Einar Dyhrkopp said the agency will implement the decision but return it for further consideration. The commission’s plan would price the second ounce at 21 cents, potentially reducing revenue and affecting the contingency fund, as the Post Office negotiates with unions and faces rising salaries and costs.
