K State professors call to repeal campus concealed weapons law
Forty Kansas State University distinguished professors signed a letter urging the Legislature to halt plans to allow concealed firearms on campus. They warn easier gun access would not reduce shootings and likely increase deaths from gun use and accidents, urging permanent relief from the 2012 act. They note campuses are densely populated and urge protections such as secure storage, restricted firearm areas, and metal detector screening at events. The letter emphasizes potential adverse effects on recruitment and campus vitality.
