Garden City Considers Electric Rate Hike Amid Budget Gap
Garden City faces rising power costs as the public utilities director seeks higher base charges and a uniform per kilowatt rate. He cites dwindling reserve funds from 4.1 million in 2005 toward 2.4 million next year and warns the ECA trend will push bills up for churches, schools, and businesses. Community leaders warn higher bills could strain ministries and retailers while offering energy conservation incentives.
