Milk Label Rules Face Organized Opposition in Kansas
Opponents flood the Kansas Agriculture Department with hundreds of emails opposing a proposed dairy label rule. Critics argue limits on label claims burden small farmers, while supporters insist the change ensures fairness and accuracy. The session saw 24 speakers with opponents outnumbering supporters about 2 to 1. Dairy groups cite no artificial hormones in milk, though rbST claims require affidavits and records. Ohio already enacted a similar rule, prompting debate on litigation costs and potential outcomes.
