Law to tighten freight delays could lift Amtrak times
A new federal law to crack down on freight trains may improve Amtrak on time performance nationwide. Missouri reports show Amtrak trains late by 30 minutes in 2007 08, with Union Pacific on the Kansas City St Louis route, and officials disagreeing on priority. Amtrak cites dispatching and maintenance as main delay causes while Union Pacific says it prioritizes Amtrak as much as possible.
