Garden City police arrested Miguel Lopez Hernandez aged 25 on a DUI allegation and Steven Nicodemus aged 21 on a municipal warrant during a sobriety checkpoint on East Fulton Street. Toby Carmichael aged 19 was cited and released for consumption of alcohol by a minor. The operation, funded by a Kansas Impaired Driving Deterrence Program grant.
Police and fire logs reveal a series of calls, including a mugging report, a residential alarm activation, a vehicle collision, and a stove fire. Officers responded to multiple disturbances, while firefighters contained the blaze and secured the scene for investigation. No injuries reported.

An eight year old Liberal girl died from injuries after a one vehicle crash on Kansas Highway 190. Jacqueline Goitia was ejected from a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Guillermina Goitia. The vehicle rolled after leaving the roadway. Jacqueline was not wearing a seat belt. Guillermina and 3 year old Karen Cortez were hospitalized.
