Man seeks to withdraw plea in sons' trailer fire deaths
LIBERAL AP A man who pleaded guilty to killing his two young sons in a trailer fire asks to withdraw his plea. Robert Fox contends proper procedure wasn’t followed when he pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless second degree murder in the March 2004 deaths. He says sleep deprivation and pressure influenced the deal. Prosecutors say the plea was proper and Fox chose it. A Sedgwick County judge will rule soon. Fox originally faced capital murder charges for the deaths of 6-year-old Chance Fox and 4-year-old Rowdy Fox in Hooker, Oklahoma, where they were visiting him in southwest Kansas. He pleaded guilty July 26, sparing a possible death sentence. Fox maintains his innocence.
