Kansas parks seek revenue as mild summer cuts visits
Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks faces tighter finances as a cooler summer lowers park attendance. With revenue forecast trimmed from six million to 5.83 million, officials seek an extra 600 thousand dollars from lawmakers to avoid/end-year deficit. Rick Martin of Kanopolis State Park notes slower visitation across lakes. The department relies more on user fees amid shrinking state support.
