Shooting suspect pleads not guilty in Garden City case
Michael Eugene George Jr, 82, pleaded not guilty in Finney County District Court to felony first-degree murder and an amended charge of premeditated first-degree murder over the fatal April 19 shooting of Karlton Waechter. He faces life with parole possible after 25 or 50 years for the respective counts, amid additional charges of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and attempted aggravated robbery. Also charged is Jeffrey Ridgen, 33, in the same incident on East Garden Village.
