Memorial honors slain KU student in Costa Rica
In Golfito Costa Rica Shannon Martin 23 of Topeka is honored by a memorial erected by her Costa Rican host family O dette and Marciel Porras. The monument sits about 200 feet from the place where her body was found last May after a fatal stabbing during a tropical fern research project. Martin had studied abroad with the Porras family earlier and was finishing a research assignment when killed on May 13 2001.
