Ellsberg Labels Nixon a Criminal in Antiwar Campaign
Los Angeles AP Ellsberg and Russo say they will use time from their postponed Pentagon Papers trial to give antiwar speeches and campaign against President Nixon. Ellsberg calls the administration a menace to citizens rights and accuses the government of using charges to frighten people who know government lies. Both men, former Rand Corp researchers, face espionage conspiracy and theft charges over the leak. The trial paused over a wiretap dispute, with jurors kept on call for October. They plan to oppose Nixon and support ending the war, though they stop short of backing McGovern.

Kitten Picture Craft by Cappy Dick
A simple hobby project uses a three by five inch poster board to create a kitten portrait with rhinestone eyes. Glue two green flat back stones for eyes, add a border with mending tape, and attach a cardboard easel so the picture stands on a desk. Light reflects off the stones like gleaming cat eyes. A real jingle bell adds a final realistic touch.

Man Barred From Ballot In Barton County Sheriff Race
GREAT BEND Kansas AP The Barton County Election Board barred Everett Moore from appearing on the November ballot for sheriff after state Attorney General Vern Miller ruled he lacks the required high school education under a new Kansas law effective July 1. Moore, a Great Bend police sergeant, could be appointed by the county GOP to fill the vacancy if he completes the equivalent education before the election. The GOP chair Bob Southern and Moore have not stated plans. Sheriff Marion Weese is the Democrat incumbent.
