Couple Restores Farmland To Natural Prairie On 40 Acre Farm
LABETTE CITY AP A visitor to Max Goods farm near here finds a landscape devoted to native prairie. He and his wife Eveleen restore about 19 acres of prairie over 10 years, create wetlands, and cultivate habitat for 180 plus species including ducks, frogs, turtles, herons, eagles and osprey. The site features a small wetland with arrowhead, cord grass and cattails, and the couple plans to reach 300 native species while arguing for prairie protection alongside forests and wetlands.
