Kansas GOP cash woes contrast with Democratic fundraising
Kansas fundraising shows slow GOP results while the Kansas Democratic Party reports $202,000 in mid year cash. The GOP federal account posted a $4,200 deficit though $150,000 came in during the first half and $155,000 was spent. The state party's state activities account held under $3,000 at end of July. Democratic chairwoman Joan Wagnon criticizes GOP budgeting as fiscally unreliable while GOP executive director Clay Barker cites delayed cash shifts and donor fatigue between elections. Barker remains hopeful a new fundraising drive and a mass-mail campaign with Gov. Brownback will improve the balance this year.
