Beazley death row reprieve delays Texas execution
Napoleon Beazley, 25, on death row for a 1994 carjacking murder, won a stay from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals hours before execution. The case involves evolving Article III debates over executing juveniles, with Beazley’s attorney and prosecutors voicing contrasting views as Gov. Perry and the U.S. Supreme Court weigh broader appeals. The victim was John Luttig, father of a federal judge with ties to three Supreme Court justices. The case drew global protest letters while the governor maintained no halt on other Texas executions.
