Rescuers moved six missing miners toward the back of the mine today hoping they found an air pocket. Crews drilled a third bore and used a camera in one shaft but have not determined the miners fate. The camera showed faint images as crews pursued a sign of life.
A tool bag hanging from a post 3.4 miles from the entrance and over 1800 feet underground signals proximity to where miners worked. Bob Murray, chief of Murray Energy Corp., co-owner and operator, said the sign shows teams are near the miners' former working area.
