Holcomb approves budget in split vote
Holcomb City Council narrowly approves the 2011 general fund budget about 1.1 million with a mill levy increase to 53.018 mills generating nearly 475000 for the city. A public hearing drew no attendees and tax for a 100000 home would rise to about 609 from 590. Voters in favor were Robins Gaede Newman Cox. Davis Rupp opposed. McCallister absent.

Brownback touts initiatives on tour in Kansas

GCCC keeps mill levy steady for 2010-11 budget
Garden City Community College trustees approved a 2010-11 budget with no mill levy increase and a total of over 15.7 million dollars. The levy remains at 19.121 mills plus 1.077 mills for capital outlay, supported by 9.1 million dollars in local property tax and 1.7 million in in-state tuition, 440 thousand in out-of-state tuition, 2.5 million in state grants, 150 thousand in course fees and other fees.
