Garden City school board proposes three quarter mill tax cut
Garden City USD 457 considers a three quarter mill levy reduction with a public hearing Monday night. The plan would lower district taxes for a $100,000 home by $8.67, but county and community college levies would raise by 0.95 mills combined. Total local taxes across city, county, school and college would rise about 0.2 mill to $1,462.01 for a $100,000 homeowner. Board notes state funding and debt-service changes enable the shift despite a lower district valuation. Also on the agenda are revised Goals for 2007-08 addressing academics, management, safety and facilities, plus purchases for electronic lockdown systems and stadium lighting.
