Kansas among fastest growing wind markets in USS report
A government Wind Technologies Market Report says Kansas ranks third for wind in-state electricity generation and added 1 441 MW in 2012, totaling 2 713 MW. The state now can produce over 20 percent of its electricity from wind, with southwest Kansas hosting or planned wind farms. Projects like Buffalo Dunes involve TradeWinds and Enel Green Power, while counties such as Scott and Kearny discuss new developments and jobs during construction, plus potential Payments in Lieu of Taxes to offset land-use impacts.
