Betty Ann West Crusch 70 died August 6 2008 at St. Catherine Hospital Garden City after complications from diabetes. She was born January 3 1938 in Waynesville North Carolina and lived in Garden City Holcomb and Lakin areas. She married Lee West in 1960 and Les Crusch in 1982. Survived by husband Les Crusch David West Susie Zimmerman and several stepchildren grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday Garland Funeral Home Garden City with burial in Lakin Cemetery. Visitation through 8 p.m. tonight and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. Two 16 year old Scott City teens, Christopher Sager and Ashlee Brown, were hurt when their 2001 Suzuki Vitara rolled four times on North Jennie Barker Road. Both were treated and released from St. Catherine Hospital. Separately, Garden City man Mike Crain, 27, was pinned between a forklift and grain truck on West Lowe Road and flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita in serious condition.
Police beat reports show Ralph Aguilar and Jose Palma arrested for aggravated assault and domestic battery, Mavis Bowles and Megan McGraw cited for disorderly conduct in bars. Joshua Smith cited and released for theft of services from a prior incident. Also ada $150 to $250 vehicle and residence window vandalism reported.
At El Ajua a break in damaged a window and bars with a $200 loss. A&A Body Shop saw theft between July 2 and July 3 with unspecified items. Alltel reports entry via insecure door. a small safe containing $475 was taken, total loss $625. Also, a wallet was taken from a locker at the Big Pool between noon and 6 pm August 4, loss $32. Dillon’s Fuel Center saw a fuel theft of $45.76 at 6:16 pm and another incident at 8:11 pm where payment was not made for fuel, loss $20.
At Time Out on 1319 N Taylor Ave an assailant punched a person and tried to strike another. At Jennie Barker Rd 500 block suspects damaged two light poles and signs. loss estimated at 5000 dollars. Working Man's guns at 1106 McCoy St a vehicle was entered and a handicap placard stolen. loss 1 dollar. Late evening calls were made to threaten someone in the 1800 block of West Kansas Ave. Investigation ongoing.
Finney County authorities report numerous arrests at various times. Individuals named include Antonio Flores Jr 32 of Elm Street for possession of hallucinogenic and Angela Silva 18 for property damage and underage alcohol purchase. Additional arrests cover license violations criminal warrants and suspensions across Finney County with several cities or towns cited.
Sunday Luisa Alonso a 19 year old from McAllen Texas was arrested at 1 42 a m in Finney County on a warrant for purchase or consumption of alcohol by a minor Friday Heidi Chapman 27 of Taos New Mexico was arrested at 10 55 p m in Finney County on an allegation of sale or possession of hallucinogens with the intent to sell
At 2:41 p.m. a motor vehicle pedestrian accident occurred at 11430 W Lowe Road. At 6:49 p.m. extrication of victims from a vehicle happened at North Jennie Barker Road and West Tennis Road. At 8:08 p.m. smoke detector activation due to malfunction at 3501 N Campus Drive Building E Apt 101.
