Study finds federal anti crime funds fail to curb crime
A National Urban Coalition study released today says federal antCrime grants largely miss their mark. It notes most funds go to police hardware while court reform narcotics control and juvenile treatment receive little support. The report covers 12 states from the Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 program and warns of dislocation in the criminal justice system if trends continue.

Three Suffer Serious Burns in Farm Explosion
Three people suffered serious burns in a storage cellar butane explosion on the Homer C. Smith farm five miles southeast of Mulvane Kansas. One Killed in 1 10 Accident on Missouri River Bridge
A seven-vehicle crash on a bridge over the Missouri River west of St. Louis killed Donald C. Barlow, 56, of Manhattan, Ti, and injured four others. Barbara Towell, 18, of St. Charles lost control, causing a chain of collisions that blocked eastbound lanes for hours.
