Humane Society to take over Garden City shelter management
Garden City will shift shelter operations to the Finney County Humane Society starting Jan 1 after a city commission vote. The city will retain ownership and fund the contract at 215,980 dollars yearly for three years, with county underwriting to be discussed. Animal control remains with the Garden City Police Department as FCHS plans to expand educational events and ease adoption rules while pursuing a no kill goal.
