Megachurch fires pastor amid police probe in Hammond
The First Baptist Church of Hammond says pastor Jack Schaap is out after a police investigation targets the church and Hyles Anderson College. Sheriff John Buncich said the probe began after talks with church leaders, but few specifics were released. Schaap, 54, joined the church in 2001 and is a Holland, Michigan native who studied at Hyles Anderson College. He has long led the church and college in the tradition of its founder Jack Hyles.
