The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America said baptized members fell by 26,042 to 5,099,877 as of December 31, due to roll cleaning and 37 congregations disbanding. Since 1991, membership declined by 150,706. Revenue from bequests and investments is down, prompting a $2.4 million reduction in national program spending this fiscal year starting February 1, with proposals for next year and possible unfilled vacancies.
