GCCC creates Ciren W. Hill Memorial Scholarship
The Garden City Community College Endowment Association announces the Ciren W. Hill Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund to aid students in technical education science criminal justice or health care. Funded by Pam and Skip Caldwell and friends, it honors alumnus and U S Army veteran Hill who died in August 2010 after serving in the Army and studying at GCCC from 2004 to 2007 before transferring to Panhandle State University.

Ulysses Blood Drive Slated At Civic Center
The Grant County blood drive in Ulysses is set for Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. in the Commercial Building at the Grant County Civic Center. Donors must be 17 or older and weigh at least 110 pounds. 16-year-olds may donate with parental permission. Cancer survivors in remission for one year may donate. Walk-ins welcome with donor card or photo ID.

Numbers rise at Salina juvenile detention center
