New City Plans Downtown Water Well

A new city water well is planned on the old post office property to improve pressure during peak use. A test hole was drilled yesterday on the east edge of city property as part of three tests by Henkle Drilling and Supply Co. The company also drilled tests along the drainage ditch near the electrical substation and in the Gardendale area, but none matched the potential seen at the old post office site. The dispute arose at a meeting of Southeast Kansas Highway Association members condemning highway project allocations across the 11-county 4th division.
