Earnhardt seat belt intact says first rescuer

Orange County firefighter Tommy Propst, among the first on the Daytona 500 scene, says Earnhardt’s left lap belt was undamaged and took effort to release. He contradicts NASCAR’s claim that the belt broke, noting the buckle freed only after a hard yank. Propst questions NASCAR’s ongoing investigation and the lack of interviews with him. The AP could not reach Propst for comment.
