Memorial service for Alice Denby Wade 77 former Garden City resident will be 4 p m Sunday at First Presbyterian Church Cleveland Oklahoma Committal service will be 2 p m Wednesday in Woodland Cemetery Chapel Mrs Wade died Wednesday April 10 2002 at her home in Cleveland She was born August 22 1925 in Garden City daughter of Arlington and Dorothy Lawrence She graduated Garden City High School in 1943 earned an associate degree from Texas Tech and married Carroll Wade in Sebring Florida on April 14 1945 They lived in Garden City Tulsa and Cleveland where she worked as office manager at Cleveland Area Hospital for nearly 26 years She was active in the Presbyterian Church and survived by two daughters Harriett Shugart and Carol Ann Svaigl a son John Wade seven grandchildren a sister Margaret Lewis and four nieces Her husband died in 1973 Chapman-Black Funeral Home Cleveland handled arrangements.

Olathe teen dies after car chase on Kansas Turnpike
Raynell Reed, 16, died after the Ford Explorer he rode in, reported stolen in Olathe, crashed near mile marker 80 in Butler County during a chase by Kansas Highway Patrol trooper Carl Flanagan. The driver sped away after being stopped and later braked to avoid a collision. Reed died of internal injuries at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. The driver and two other passengers were treated at other hospitals.

Thomas W. Steelman Sr. of Blue Springs Missouri pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit mail and wire fraud defrauding the IRS and aiding in preparing 10 false federal tax returns. He was a promoter for Renaissance and used his IRS background to answer questions about the program. Authorities say Renaissance defrauded clients of over 100 million dollars and operates as an illegal pyramid scheme.
