The Kansas Chamber of Commerce planted 25 welcome flags on light standards for the Kansas Wildlife Federation in the weekend session. Moscow AP reports the Soviet Union launched the second unmanned maneuverable space station, Polyot 2, on the third anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s space flight. Polyot 1 followed last November, fueling speculation about manned missions.

Finals of the KIAL Telegram Bridge Tournament will be Tuesday night April 21 at Downing's. A buffet begins at 6 20 p m before final matches. In the men s division Bill Wieland Clyde Stallsworth face Ralph Krey Manford Kimberly. Women finalists Florence Burris Doris Carmichael play Betty Falconer Irene Bryant.
Buddy Werner and Barbara Henneberger died in an Alpine avalanche at Samedan while filming a ski fashions movie. Fifteen others freed themselves. Werner, a Steamboat Springs native, had been a leading American ski contender despite no Olympic medal.
