Lee Richardson Zoo expands reach with distance learning programs
The Lee Richardson Zoo runs about 200 distance learning programs yearly, drawing roughly 6,000 participants. Programs cost 100 dollars each, funding tech upgrades and studio costs. Since 1997 the program has extended education to Kansas and beyond, using live video, projections, and archived footage to teach about animals like owls and swift foxes.
