Critics resist Kansas Medicaid overhaul despite bids
Critics of Gov. Sam Brownback's KanCare plan push to derail the overhaul though bids from private firms to manage the $2.9 billion program proceed. The plan would place disabled and elderly in managed care starting 2013 with three statewide contracts. Advocates fear loss of control for regional gatekeepers and question private contractors' understanding of disability services. The legislature returns April 25 to debate carve outs and oversight.
