City votes to sell theater to West for improvements and venue use
The City Commission voted to sell the theater to Duane West for about 3 million dollars in a plan to turn the State into a theater in the round while keeping options for a joint proposal with FCPA and GCRC. FCPA and GCRC officials urged a single ownership path, and discussions will continue on how to improve the building and fund renovations while preserving its historic character.
