Butter dishes safe with unsalted butter
Dear Heloise advises that unsalted butter can be used in water-filled butter dishes but refrigeration is still recommended. Keep water fresh weekly, store away from heat, and discard spoilage. Also, latch dishwasher doors to avoid injuries and wash knives by hand.
