HorseThief reservoir tax passes in four counties
Finney Ford Gray Hodgeman and Garden City area voters approve a Horse Thief Reservoir tax plan to fund a 450 acre lake and 1100 acre recreation area eight miles west of Jetmore on Kansas 156. State money totaling 4.6 million is hoped over years with construction to finish by 2008 and lake filling over four to five years.

Burn by Black urged stronger attendance at meetings to gain information. Marsha Wright, 55, editor and educator, finished fourth with 2041 votes (15 percent). Ed Porter III, 68, a remodeling business owner, finished fifth with 1801 votes (13 percent) and was not available for comment.
