Mississippi House approves Ten Commandments display bill
The Mississippi House and Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill allowing the Ten Commandments and other religious texts to be placed in public buildings. Gov. Haley Barbour is inclined to sign. The measure would also permit excerpts from Jesus Sermon on the Mount and the motto In God We Trust in public facilities. The debate centered on potential conflicts with the U.S. Constitution and Supreme Court rulings.
