Local Society Notes and Purchases for the Week

The notes cover shopping at Spradling’s for Butter-Nut bread, illness of Portia Oyler, visits by Tom Warren and family in Michigan, Mary Thomas returning from Franklin, and numerous family visits across Carroll county and Hammond. Events include Willard Lawrence selling electric bulbs, a Deer Creek street lot purchase by J F Spurgeon for 230, and a Funk’s Drug Store Saturday Market hosted by the Phileatha Class with good foods. Other entries list visits to Layro, Lake Forest, and Chicago, plus supper guests G H Trinkle and I S Hahn families.

Community Social Notes and Holiday Plans

RM report and Margarettte were guests of Tom McConnell as a wife. Mrs. John Burrous visited Lafay ette to see Herbert Keller and family. The Ladies' Aid Society met at Mrs. Tom Young home with assistance from Mrs. Country man and Mrs. Lynas for a luncheon. The group planned a Christmas market and bazaar on December 4. Twelve members attended with guests Mrs. Spurgeon and Rev. Beckett.

Penny Club Meeting Highlights In Kokomo

The Pythian Sisters Penny Club met at Mrs. Flora Swafford’s home on West Walnut Street Kokomo with assist from Mrs. Cora Bell Mrs. Lina Marshall and Mrs. Anna Shirley. Guests received carnations and roses adorned the event as astors and zinnias colored the decorations. Refreshments included sandwiches salad ice cream bake and lemonade. Musical entertainment featured Mrs. Margaret Marsh and a whistling duet by Mrs. Mabel Zehring and Mrs. Marsh. The next meeting is planned for the second Thursday in October at Mrs. Mabel Zehring’s home.

Lara Novinger and others visited in Logansport on Sunday after a Joe visit. Peters and Miss Laura Kett with Harry Clymer John Mc Pope spent the day at Kokomo Park. Walter Lines and family Mrs De Meek Orville Emerick and family were Sunday evening guests of Chester Meek.

Birthday Surprise For Glee Spradling In Preston Heights

Pleasant surprise honored Glee Spradling at her Preston Heights home on what was her 16th birthday. The evening featured games, refreshments, ice cream and cake, with gifts from her father and friends Walter Lloyd Mason Wood Gale Spradling Everett Williams Glen McClain Sayters and several Misses.
