A long list of local residents visit Galveston Walton Kokomo Tipton and surrounding areas for Decoration Day and social gatherings. Notices include election for two church trustees at First Baptist Galveston on June 28 and calls to settle accounts with Luther E. Greenwood.
Tuesday afternoon May 29 the Birthday Club met at west Washington street home of Mrs Ida Rodibaugh. Members present included Mesdames Burrous Polk Terflinger McConnell Powers Emerick List McClain Henderson Rodibaugh Bayles and Miss List with visitors Mrs Kate Bayles and son from Napanee. Eva Emerick and Sarah McConnell joined as new members. Rodibaugh received a china cups and saucers set. Refreshments of cake ice cream coffee were served. Next meeting set with Mrs William Polk.
The notice warns that due to unusual economic conditions jobbers now sell on fourteen day terms and credit sales must be short term. The writer states they must switch to more cash sales to supply merchandise and urges traders to arrange affairs to meet these times for the next eighteen months.
The Kokomo Trust Co and others lost a land deed dispute over forty acres tied to L. F. Murphey deeds to the Hiller girls. Trials in Cass Circuit Court and Peru ended in verdicts for defendants, upheld on appeal by the Appellate Court. Attorneys included Neff, Winfield, Rabb for plaintiffs and Blackridge, Wolf & Barnes among others for defendants.
