Decoration Day in Galveston with ceremonies and parade
Decoration Day observances gathered a large crowd in Galveston. The program at Shaners hall featured songs and an address by Jos Herron, with a cemetery service by the G A R and a parade led by the marshal band. Local groups including American Legion and Odd Fellows participated among many residents and visitors, with social notes of neighborhood visits and a small fire loss to a hen house.
