Young Child Henrietta Vincent Dies After Illness

Henrietta, daughter of Deputy Sheriff Milton Vincent and his wife, died at home on Seminary Hill after six weeks of illness. She was three and a half. The funeral, conducted by Rev. J. A. Matlael, will be private with interment in Greenwood. The interval will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning.

Capitola mine sold and local mining notes in Platteville

Platteville Wisconsin September 27 The Capitola mine sold today to R J Dugdale who represents a new Waters Mining company working inside the city. The Platteville Linden company made a good strike on their property in the Linden district. All stock sold in the old Cincinnati mine near Rotary with 100 shares at 50 dollars and assessable to 100 if needed. A stockholders meeting Thursday night to form an organization. The Miner and The Mute Mine Strike in Terre Haute

One hundred twenty five coal miners went out on strike in Terre Haute in solidarity with a mule named Ben. A new band whipped the animal leading to its death after two weeks, prompting mass layoffs of seven hundred workers. The mine superintendent was discharged after miners’ protest, and Ben was buried before operations resumed.

Judge Mourns Whipping Post Mercy In Elmwood Case

In Peoria County Court Judge Nicholas E. Worthington sentences Charles Slayton after he pleads guilty to holding a revolver during a burglary attempt. The final notable sea mirage appeared in May 1854 in the Baltic Sea. An inverted image of nineteen English Baltic feet vessels was visible from about thirty miles away, creating a striking optical illusion at sea.

Veteran of Civil War Vincent Robail Dies at 78

Vincent Robail long time Galena resident died at his S Beach St home Wednesday afternoon after a prolonged illness at age seventy eight. He served in the 40th Illinois and was born in New York state. survived by his wife and daughter Mrs. John Gear. Funeral set for Friday at St Marys Church. Interment in German Catholic Cemetery.
