Federal Court at Freeport Adopts Dismissals and Admits Bar

The United States Court at Freeport held a brief session with Judge Arthur L. Sanborn presiding. Court adjourned to November 20 for continued matters including the Bovey Wilmnaacth case to be tried by jury. A young man with a horse and buggy circulates Main Street four blocks thirty three times, smiling with satisfaction after sand removal. He stays on the paved path all evening while rumors say he is seeking a young lady he has a date with.

Doctor George Stephenson's Tragic Self Destruction in Yates City

Dr George H Stephenson a 24 year old dentist formerly of Apple River shot and killed himself in Yates City after reporting threats from a Chicago woman whom he had saved life for. He left three letters to his father Miss Sadie McKinty and the public stating he was sane but unsuccessful in business. Burial planned at Apple River as grief-stricken relatives receive the news.

Funeral to be held in Apple River for well known Galena resident

The deceased, a respected Galena figure, will be commemorated in Apple River with many friends lamenting the untimely death. Chicago police continue a search for the young woman who drove the man to his death. Books on book covers blotters and rivers are free at Kempter's Book Store.

Largest Illinois Labor Convention Opens in Danville

The Illinois State Federation of Labor opened its largest convention in Danville this morning. It is the twenty third annual meeting with about 250 delegates expected. The Chicago Record Herald reports the Methodist Book Concern strike settlement will be discussed by Chicago book committee in about two weeks. President Wright released Saturday a telegram from Samuel Gompers urging the conference to secure an agreement with the Methodist Book Concern and Typographical Union No 16, calling it of incalculable benefit to labor and the public.

Niagara Falls lecture draws large audience on water power

Under YMCA auspices the Nature Food Company of Niagara Falls held an instructional lecture at the Association building. Herbert Fuller described Falls views and local industries with moving pictures of Niagara Gorge and whirlpool. The lecture praised Niagara frontier facilities for new industries and displayed the Nature Food plant. Salmon fishing reports note a rush as cold weather boosts catches ahead of ice.

Musk of Mystic Hour Carload Sold by John Cloran

A carload of Mystic Hour products arrived advertised as the best on the market by John Cloran. Company M from Dubuque competed in a rifle match against the Governor Greys in Dubuque, losing by 26 points. Bush shots from Iowa faced Galena in the first match, Galena winning. the second match went to Dubuque on Sunday.

Plans for a Catholic South movement outlined at archbishop's residence

A conference of South Catholic leadership, including Archbishop Quigles and Bishops Boley and Allen, plus Rev. Frank Kelly, will gather at North and Dearborn to discuss a southern extension of Catholic work among negro and poor white communities. The meeting aims to recruit northern clergy and raise funds for a southern missionary effort, building on a Chicago plan to train black and white lay and priestly candidates.
