Great Modern Woodmen class to be adopted in Chicago

Roewood Camp No 73 of Galena plans a benefit dance at Turner Hall on Tuesday to aid a hospitalized member. The Nov 18 Chicago ceremony will adopt 1 500 new Woodmen. leaders expect 5 000 Illinois Woodmen and 10 000 in Chicago to attend. A grand parade will precede the armory program featuring Woodmen Forester teams and bands.

Circuit Court Opens November Term in Jo Daviess

The Jo Daviess county circuit court convenes Monday at two o'clock with Judge O K Heard of Freeport presiding. Heavier docket than May, five prisoners and several new cases on common law and chancery. Grand jury to hear charge, chief foreman chosen, petit jury to report in week two. Savanna Horse Theft Leads to Galena Pursuit

Two valuable mares stolen from farmers near Savanna sparked a wide search as two strangers with a wagon fled toward Galena. Sheriff Whitmore and City Marshal Whippo traced leads via telephone, but could not confirm the stolen horses’ description. Authorities warned residents within 50 miles and dispatched notices to multiple towns. the owners reported the loss early this morning.

Brady and Grotjohn Receive County Marriage License

This noon County Clerk Williams issued a license to Henry S. Brady and Mabel Grotjohn, both of Platteville. Judge Rippin married them in his office and the couple departed for their Platteville home shortly afterward.
