A charter member of South Presbyterian Church, she was beloved, charitable, and survived by two sons Rev Nicholas Stahl of South Bethlehem PA, and W H Stahl of Galena. one son died in infancy. husband Nicholas Stahl died in 1876.

Boats to Resume Service on Upper Mississippi This June
The Diamond Jo line plans to resume steamer service on the upper Mississippi in June. The Sidney departs Dubuque in late May, leaves St Louis June 2, calls Clinton June 4, then returns north to St Paul and St Louis. The Quincy and Saint Paul will run St Paul to St Louis this summer, starting after school ends, with peak passenger travel in July and August and the season ending by early September.

Steam Drill Used in Great Western Double Track Work
A large force labors on the Great Western double tracking project with a Galena Junction camp. William Quilliam oversees a steam drill blasting rock to depth of three to four feet, dynamite dislodging rock rapidly. A 75 foot water well was sunk near the camp for the workers, and work will continue through most of summer. The Burlington road builds a rock crusher at Cassville to ballast the northern system, potentially supplying ballast from Chicago to Minneapolis. The improved ballast supports heavier locomotives and allows long freight trains to be hauled by fewer engines.
