Autos to Pass Here on Annual St Paul Tour
Several hundred members of the Chicago Automobile Club will pass through Freeport Nora Warren Apple River Shullsburg Benton Hazel Green and probably Galena enroute to St Paul on their annual tour. The Automobile Club of St Paul offers 1000 in prizes to counties with the best roads as judged by the tour entrants who actually traverse the routes. The county with the most votes will receive 500.

Drowned man from Clinton in Mississippi misadventure
J Dwight Lamb of Clinton, 37, a member of the Lamb lumber family, drowned five miles south of Bellevue on the Mississippi aboard the Marguerite. He fell from the upper deck while seated, sank before help could reach him, and his body had not yet been found days later as search parties worked. Lamb, president of Clinton Boat and Boiler Works, was married with two children, and survived by his widow. The report notes the river depth and ongoing recovery efforts.

Death of Derrida resident John Brudi
John Brudi of Derrida Jo Daviess County died at his home Thursday evening after months of illness. Survived by children John Chris August and several daughters in Dorinda Floodwood and Charles City. Born in Dedigen Germany August 19 1834 he immigrated 87 years ago and settled in Derrida. He was a German Lutheran church member and respected community figure. The funeral was held Sunday at 10 o’clock.
