J G Schmohl announces candidacy for the office of city treasurer in the upcoming municipal election. He presents his bid and seeks voter support for the public finance post.
Dugan of Franklin Street was arrested this morning on complaint by Mrs Louisa Cook. He appeared before Justice Clark and pled guilty to disorderly conduct, claiming intoxication as his defense. The justice fined him five dollars plus costs, which were not paid, and he was remanded to jail to serve the fine.
John Hea of Freeport and Mrs Edge of Scales Mound were in the city yesterday and today. Several residents from Scales Mound Hazel Green Cuba City and Shullsburg visited for business. An Anglers League forms to protect Galena river fins and work with Dubuque and Galena anglers. Citizens caucus nominations open March 31 for April 1 voting at the Court House with expenses borne by nominees.

The Sixteen Mining Company organized in Janesville Wisconsin to operate in Grant County. It is incorporated under Wisconsin law with head office in Janesville and capital stock of $16000 fully paid in. The firm has leased forty acres on the New York 80 formerly owned by the Spies estate now held by Nelson J Russel of Rockford and Snyder and Smith of Minneapolis. Officers include President Nelson J Russel Sec Treasurer J Mondt and directors F Bremmerman W D Buchanan and F Ohlander. Operations start at once with thorough drilling before development.
