The Board of Town Auditors of East Galena will convene at the Town Hall on Tuesday March 28 1905 at 1 PM to audit town accounts. All persons with claims against the town are asked to present them on or before the date.
Miss Clara Stephan of Scales Mound visited Galena today along with numerous cousins and friends from Guilford Vinegar Hill and Milbrig. Local residents from Rodden, Council Hill and Guilford were seen shopping or calling on relatives in Galena. Several travelers returned home or prepared for upcoming trips as the day’s social activity spread through the city.

Captain Norman H. Tibballs dies at Mercy hospital in Dubuque after a period of illness. Born in 1884 in Bennington Vermont he moved west as a youth and began river work in Galena. He married Rose Connolly in 1864 at Galena. she died three years ago. Survived by son Charles of Dubuque, Tibballs piloted on the Mississippi for about forty years and was highly regarded among rivermen.
Official war office release shows 500000 killed and wounded or taken prisoner since the war with Japan began. General Staff notes Field Marshal Oyama likely to abandon plans for a large pursuit for now. Mrs. George Sedgewick of New Diggings visited Galena as a business caller.
Eggs sell for 15 cents per dozen at stores today. A special Carpenters Union meeting is planned at Union Labor Hall this evening. The Illinois Central builds a new telegraph station at Grant siding east of Galena. Thomas Evans, injured two weeks ago, is out yesterday for the first time since the accident. Mrs. J F Brendel adds a new porch at Bench and Franklin. W H Blewett buys the Barilani building for 850 dollars at public sale. Chicago Central Y M C A tops Sioux City Giants 34 to 25. Platteville Foundry sale to Galena Iron Works Co is confirmed. buyers take possession.
Jacob Troxell aged 73 dies at home in Pleasant Valley after a long illness. He served four years as Pleasant Valley township supervisor and leaves eight children. Interment in Marshfield. Also Mrs Henry Snyder of Menominee dies at 48 after illness. funeral at 9 from family home to Menominee Catholic Church, interred at German Catholic Cemetery. Lizzie Rowe returns to Thompson after visit. Mary Bucher shopping in East Helena.
The Bible Society will hold its annual meeting tomorrow evening at 7 30 in the First Presbyterian Church. The program includes organ music hymns scripture reading by Rev J A Matlack prayer solo by Mrs Morgan Manley a reading of minutes treasurer report depository audit committee county agents report offering more hymns and an address by Rev John Van de Erve followed by benediction and organ postlude. </s>
