The Standard Cigar Factory announces a large response to its Ad offer. Contestants must sign their full names clearly and legibly. The winning Ad will be published in these columns once the contest closes. Only the winning Ad will appear.
Albert Schaefer and J M Bennet visit, with many from Council Hill and Vinegar Hill in the city on business. August Grube, Miss Margaret Cleary, and others travel from Thompson East Galena and Vinegar Hill for shopping. Wayne, Scales Mound, and Baraboo residents visit. Mrs. Davis and James Garvey accompany relatives. The senate passes Andersons sidewalk bill enabling cities to construct sidewalks and recover costs via special funds.
The News of Three States reports efforts to organize an anti cigarette league in Savanna. Also notes the Carroll County Teachers Institute to be held in Savanna for five days starting Monday March 27.
John Dignan, tax collector of East Galena, returns books to the County Treasurer with total collections of 14 004.14 dollars. Win Switzer of Rawlins also submits books. Marriage licenses granted to Fred J. Petty of Platteville, Mable I. Eddy of Cuba City, D. E. Noble of Gratiot Wis, and Mable Skewis of Blanchardville.
A man about 25 with blue eyes and smooth shaved features, believed to be Andrew Walsh of Vinegar Hill, was found mutilated beside the Great Northern Railway near Island station west of Floodwood. Coroner’s inquiry followed as detectives searched letters and belongings from the victim’s pockets for identification and possible clues.
The Board of Township Auditors of West Galena Town will meet at 9 AM on March 28 1905 at the Township Clerk office to transact township business. All persons with claims against the town should present them by that date. Town Clerk W S Hansing.
The Board of Town Auditors of East Galena will meet at the Town Hall on Tuesday March 28 1905 at 1 PM to audit town accounts. All claimants should present their claims on or before that date.
Notice to taxpayers, all West Galena property owners who have not yet paid taxes are urged to do so at once. Tax books must be returned to the treasurer by Friday March 24. William McKernan is the collector. The value of a ton of pure gold is about $600,000.

Social events include a First Presbyterian Ladies Aid meeting and a Masonic Lodge gathering, plus a marriage at the M E Parsonage in Platteville and a Woodbine couple wedding announcement.
The Leadmine Bridge Company owned by George J. Bender plans to install several new machines around April 1 and expand capabilities in machine and bridge work. The firm recently secured the contract to build a road bridge in East Galena from Seales Mound to the Council Hill highways for 374 dollars, covering iron and stone work.
George Budden announces his bid for City Marshal of Galena subject to the Democratic city convention decision. The notice states his candidacy and allegiance to the party, naming the city and office sought.
George R. Martin announces candidacy for Treasurer at upcoming election. John P. Gorman enters as Democratic candidate for City Clerk. W H Hirst, also a Democratic candidate, runs for Street Commissioner.
