Galena High School Class of 1905 Graduates at Turner Hall
The Galena High School class of 1905 was graduated Thursday evening at Turner Hall. Rev John Van de Erve delivered the evening address on What is Education. The program included music, a salutation by Hazel Edwards, a Harvard Yale boat race reading, and a valedictory by Bertha Kramer. Dignitaries from the Board of Education and Mayor Scheerer attended.

Clam Beds Exhausted Move Camps to Pearl City
The clam beds above East Dubuque have exhausted forcing fishermen to relocate to Pearl City at the mouth of Catfish Creek on the Iowa shore. Hundreds of tons of shells and some pearls were taken from the beds over years. pearls can fetch from $1 to $2 per ounce for slugs and up to $5 to $10 each for larger pieces. Longevity in warm climates shows many centenarians in Mexico and Europe with Germany France England and Spain reporting hundreds of seniors.

Life sentence for murder of illegitimate child in Platteville
William Crawford of Platteville is sentenced to the Wisconsin penitentiary at Waupun by Judge Clemenston for killing his illegitimate child. His sister in law Francis Crawford and the mother were involved. the wife and six children were left in poverty. The condemned man’s father, aged 96, was sent to the poor farm. Witnesses described a brutal home and fear of interference.

Tragic Farm Accident Kills Miss Cecil Jones
Miss Cecil Jones, employed by the Gatwick family, died Thursday after a harrow driven by runaway horses cut her in a field where she was dropping sweet corn. One eye was torn out, and she died that afternoon at 1:80.
