Freeport resident Captain Charles F. P. Taggart aged eighty two or three died Friday morning. Civil War veteran who raised a company that became Company D of Illinois 93rd Infantry. Wounded at Vicksburg, discharged in 1865. Later served in railway mail service until 1878 and worked as assessor.
