St Petersburg reports reveal widespread mutiny and aims to curb constitutional change. Grand Duke Vladimir suspected in attempted assassination. Czar Nicholas wounded but not seriously. Communications collapse, banks see runs, and violence disrupts telegraph lines as uprisings spread beyond Poland.
A group of officers from the Yellow Cuirassiers and Life Guard regiments were arrested at Tsarskoe Selo for presenting petitions including opposition to military policing. The event signals discontent within the Imperial guard as rumors spread of an attack on the emperor and injury to a grand duke. simulating martial law in Poland follows a large worker lockout in St. Petersburg.
Official dispatch from Sebastopol via General Kaulbars cites Vice Admiral Chouknin's Nov 20 telegram. It is reported Annapolis Md December 1 that the Meriwether court martial concludes arguments in a single day and proceeds to secret session for verdict after navy secretary review. Found His Long Lost Sister In Sioux City Iowa A man from St Janes Minnesota reunites with sister Gustave Metz after twenty eight years of separation.
Detectives report drugs valued from 250 to 50000 dollars were stolen from Mallinckrodt Chemical Co in New York. Three men Louis Gears Edward Smith and Joseph Hogan were arrested or confessed with Hogan admitting involvement. He worked at a company storeroom and helped steal two cases containing cocaine and iodine. Hogan earned 60 dollars with Smith transferring goods to Gears for 50 dollars.
Vandals looted the wrecked steamer Crescent City off Duluth after it ran aground on Tuesday. Crew members barely escaped with their lives as turkeys and other valuables vanished from the ship’s refrigerator and logged items were stolen.
