Armory and Opera House Fund Drive Opens in Town

A committee from Company M began soliciting subscriptions to fund an armory and an accompanying opera house. By 10 am more than 1500 had been raised, with a city canvass planned for about two weeks. A company will be formed to oversee the armory project and building plans, though fate of the hall is undecided. Local notices report mine activity, arrivals, and various small-town updates.

Cuba City Mrs. Herman Bussen died at her home after several months illness from consumption. She was a respected resident survived by her husband and four small children.

The Joplin Letter reports zinc selling up to 48.50 per ton on assay values with 45.50 and 42 ranges for 60 percent zinc, and lead reaching 78.50 per ton matching last week.
